Highlights of Lake Aztec in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Highlights of Lake Aztec
in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Cherokee Village, Arkansas has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation.

One of the seven is Lake Aztec. The highlights of this lake are:

* 19.3 acres

* Maximum depth unknown

* Fishing, swimming, no-wake boating, and canoeing allowed

Lake Aztec is a very small, quiet and picturesque lake in Cherokee Village. It can be seen as you drive by on Cherokee Road. The lake is on the Fulton County side of Cherokee Village. Lake Aztec has just a few homes along its shoreline and is a postcard picture when driving by.

Lake Aztec, I've been told, has some good fishing in it primarily due to the fact that it is not used very often by anybody except for the few homeowners who live on the lake. Fishing on Lake Aztec would be like fishing on your private lake.

Lake Aztec is no-wake lake and the smallest of the lakes in Cherokee Village. It does provide a very peacful fishing or canoeing atmosphere. There is access to the lake on Cherokee Road.

Cherokee Village, Arkansas has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation.

One of the seven is Lake Chanute. The highlights of this lake are:

* 65 acres

* 2.273 miles of shoreline

* Maximum depth unknown

* Fishing, swimming, no-wake boating, and canoeing allowed

Lake Chanute is a very quiet and picturesque lake in Cherokee Village. It can be seen as you drive by on Cherokee Road. The lake is on the Fulton County side of Cherokee Village. Lake Chanute has very good fishing and is very close to the south golf course.

Lake Chanute has an easy to use boat ramp. There is never alot of boat traffic on the lake, therefore it is a favorite place to fish by boat or right off the shore. From the boat ramp, there is a path that takes you to a cove that is popular with local fishermen.

Lake Chanute is no-wake lake and just a little smaller than Lake Sequoyah, yet it is large enough for relaxing pontoon boat rides around the lake. Swimming and floating in Lake Chanute is a favorite summer past-time.

Highlights of Lake Omaha in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Highlights of Lake Omaha
in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Cherokee Village, Arkansas has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation.

One of the seven is Lake Omaha. The highlights of this lake are:

* 139 acres

* 4.7 miles of shoreline

* Maximum depth 40 feet

*Boating, water-skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, and canoeing allowed

* Full service marina

* The second largest lake in Cherokee Village

Lake Omaha is the second largest lake in Cherokee Village. It is in the Fulton County side of Cherokee Village. Lake Omaha boasts some of the newest and largest homes in all of the village.

Lake Omaha is one of the two lakes where water skiing and tubing is allowed in the village. There is never alot of boat traffic on the lake, therefore it is a favorite of water skiers who are looking for that perfect "glass" water to ski on.

Lake Omaha almost feels like a private lake inside a community of already private lakes. Due to its location on the western side of the village, it is not used as much as Lake Thunderbird and Lake Sequoyah is by the Cherokee Village residents and their guests. When you are on the lake, you generally have more privacy most days which gives you that "we have the lake to ourselves" feeling.

Highlights of Lake Thunderbird in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Highlights of Lake Thunderbird
in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Cherokee Village, Arkansas has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation.

One of the seven is Lake Thunderbird. The highlights of this lake are:

* 264 acres

* 7.2 miles of shoreline

* Maximum depth 75 feet

* Boating, water-skiing, tubing, fishing, swimming, and canoeing allowed

* The largest and most popular lake in Cherokee Village

* Marina w/ boat rentals, bait and fishing tackle

* Access through channel to Gitche Gummee Swimming Beach on Lake Sequoyah

* Navigable channel connects and allows boat access between Lake Thunderbird and Lake Sequoyah.

Lake Thunderbird is the most popular lake in Cherokee Village. It is the main focal point for the village. It is where the annual Fourth of July Fireworks celebration is held in the village and is always one of the highlights of the year.

Lake Thunderbird is where to go to water ski and take the kids tubing on a beautiful summer day. At night, when the skiers are off the lake, untie the lines, push off from the dock, and take in a nice evening cruise and enjoy the evening. Get up in the morning and open up the throttle again.

However, when you feel like getting away from the crowds and the fast boats, and you just want to anchor up in the middle of the lake and float and swim, it is just a short boat ride through the channel into Lake Sequoyah where there is no wake allowed and the simple pleasures of a quiet lake begin.

Highlights of Lake Sequoyah in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Highlights of Lake Sequoyah
in Cherokee Village, Arkansas

Cherokee Village, Arkansas has seven private lakes that offer plenty of outdoor recreation.

One of the seven is Lake Sequoyah. The highlights of this lake are:

* 75.5 acres

* 2.361 miles of shoreline

* Maximum depth 55 feet

* Fishing, swimming, no-wake boating, and canoeing allowed

* Gitche Gummee Swimming Beach

* Navigable channel connects and allows boat access between Lake Sequoyah and Lake Thunderbird, the largest lake in Cherokee Village.

Many people love Lake Sequoyah because they can have the best of both worlds when it comes to the lakes. Lake Sequoyah is a no-wake lake so you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the lake without the noisy boat traffic. However, when you "feel the need for speed", it is just a short boat ride through the channel into Lake Thunderbird where you are able to water ski and travel at faster speeds.

There is plenty of fishing on Lake Sequoyah with crappie fishing being popular in the springtime. Fishing tip: Directly off the floating markers at the public beach area about two or three boat lengths out is a good spot to try your hand at the crappie. Down on the bottom is plenty of wood structure that attract crappie and is a known crappie spot in Cherokee Village.
